'Tits'

Every Sunday morning I play a game. I scan Camilla Long’s column in the Sunday Times and then, with a flourish, pounce with yellow highlighter in hand (Ah-ha there it is) on her favourite word - ‘tits’.

Sent a letter to the Sunday Times recently re this :-

‘I applaud Camilla Long’s weekly reference to mammary glands and look forward to see in which context the word “tits” is used in her column in” Style”.(August 18 People who play ” guess the tits.”This week, Vladimir Putin “regularly going tits-out”. This admirable choice of word conveys a certain directness and perkiness lacking in its rather droopy synonym, “boobs”, which just somehow seems to hang there. Indeed I confess to possessing not a bad pair myself, as, from the look of her, does Camilla.’

Needless to say, they didn’t print it.

The ’Longification’ of the Sunday Times continues apace as I have now noticed that she writes film reviews, does interviews and last week even pinched A A Gill’s restaurant review column.
Last Sunday I didn’t notice the’t’ word.

Oh dear.
I do hope I haven’t put her off.
